Company Spotlight Series: Nizan Stern Braun

The beginning of my career was quite different from where I am today. It started with graduating from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Accounting. During my final year of college, I realized that I could not see myself becoming an accountant and instead felt passionate about pursuing a technology-focused role.

Following graduation, I started working as an Officer Administrator at a tech company. Through this position, I was exposed to cross company changes and strategy meetings that I realized I wanted to be a leader in moving forward.

I immediately started searching for an external course that would provide me the opportunity to be promoted to the business processes teams, and later started working as a Salesforce Implementer and then as a Business System Analyst. Right from the start, I liked how technology, business processes, and people were the main ingredients for successfully implementing a solution in a way that fits both the company and the user’s needs. As I gained experience updating and creating core company processes, I learned that my position required me to constantly monitor the streamline effects of every solution implementation, as one department’s solution could have an impact on other departments. It was my responsibility to ensure the solutions supported the company’s goals across the board.

My first team manager all those years ago as a Business Analyst was Nurit Dror — and now she is my manager at Variantyx! Knowing I would work with Nurit was one of the main reasons I decided to join Team Variantyx, as she has taught me so much and still does!

One of the things I like most about my position at Variantyx is the day-to-day work with people and helping – in any way that I can – make their work within the company’s systems more coherent and effective, while also ensuring our systems are scalable. For example, I helped restructure our document control system process, which is a key tool in a regulatory company like Variantyx, and supported the go-live of our new laboratory information management system (LIMS), which taught me a lot about the fascinating laboratory world and how to integrate the technologies. There is never a dull moment!

Although I work on mostly technical tasks, I enjoy hearing stories from my colleagues on the Clinical Team about how we are helping families by providing answers for treatable and untreatable conditions. I feel that Variantyx’s mission represents the future and this makes me proud to be part of it.
