Skin Biopsy Specimen Requirements

Skin biopsy kits are available by contacting our Clinical Coordination team directly at 617-209-2090.

Fresh skin biopsy from the arm. Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) tissue is NOT accepted.

One 4mm punch biopsy samples should be placed in a cup, submerged into the provided media and sealed with parafilm.

Cups must be labeled with the individual’s name and date of birth, which must match the name and date of birth on the test order. Unlabeled or mislabeled samples will not be accepted.

Skin biopsy samples should be shipped immediately after being collected. If immediate shipping is not possible, skin biopsy samples may be refrigerated. Skin biopsy samples should never be frozen.
