gDNA collection and shipping instructions
Accepted sources
DNA extracted from the following sources is accepted: whole blood, saliva, fresh and frozen tissue, bone marrow. DNA from Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) tissue is NOT accepted. DNA extraction must be performed in a CLIA/CAP accredited laboratory.
Amount, Volume, Concentration
5μg is requested. For infants, 1μg is acceptable.
Specimens should have a concentration of ≥50 ng/μl and a volume of ≥100 μl. For infants, a volume of ≥20 μl is acceptable.
Diluent
DNA should be dissolved in pH 8.0 TE buffer with low EDTA (10 mM Tris, 0.1 mM EDTA).
Labeling
Tubes must be labeled with the individual’s name and date of birth, which must match the name and date of birth on the test order. Unlabeled or mislabeled samples will not be accepted.
DNA concentration and volume must also be provided on the label.
Storage
Sealed DNA samples may be shipped at ambient temperature. Frozen DNA may also be shipped on dry ice.
