Position Summary:

At Variantyx we have developed a proprietary diagnostic testing platform based on whole genome sequencing (WGS) that detects all major types of genetic changes thereby reducing the false negative rate of testing, short-circuiting the prolonged diagnostic odyssey for patients with rare diseases and inherited cancers, and reducing the overall cost per diagnosis.

In this role, you will contribute to overall company growth leveraging your medical and clinical genomics expertise to advocate for patient and physician access to appropriate genomic testing and maximize payer reimbursement of Variantyx testing.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will work closely with our team of genetic counselors to support and assist in pre-authorizations, claim submissions, and denial appeals for genetic testing by:

  • Developing and maintaining resource tools (e.g. Letter of medical necessity) to be used for prior authorizations and appeals
  • Assisting in preparation of prior authorizations and appeals
  • Providing administrative support to genetic counselors, including organizing
    and maintaining files, databases, and reports
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Conducting follow-up calls with patients to ensure appeals were processed
  • Willingness and desire to learn and grow in the role

Qualifications:

  • Degree in human genetics, molecular biology, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in HIPAA-regulated work environments.
  • Experience and working knowledge of the following:
    • Clinical genetic/genomic/next-generation sequencing-based testing including whole exome and whole genome testing.
    • Rare inherited diseases, neurology, metabolic, maternal fetal medicine, and/or cancer.
    • Available data sources for medical/clinical and genomic information, literature review (e.g., PubMed, GeneReviews, OMIM, ClinVar).
  • Experience with Excel, Google Forms and/or Microsoft Templates.
